Pre-Tax Benefits 101

Can I have both an HSA and an FSA?

Technically, yes.

However, if you qualify and opt into an HSA, then you are only allowed to use a limited purpose health FSA. A limited purpose health FSA is meant for qualified dental and vision expenses only.

Remember, FSA funds are use-it-or-lose-it, so be sure to prioritize using your limited purpose FSA before your HSA.

If you're able to, you can let your HSA contributions compound and grow while still being able to take advantage of tax-free medical spending.
